In the '60's Diamond Tools created a process for hardening a beryllium/cobalt/copper alloy rivet,
after installing it into a pair of pliers.
These "Copaloy" pliers could be used without oil, and many found their way into electronics clean rooms,
and operating rooms in hospitals, where oil was not allowed.
