The Vault 81 Experiment that never was- Fallout 4 Lore
When we usually find a vault, it's destroyed. Ripped apart by whatever madness Vault Tec had placed inside, usually in the form of some twisted experiment. But this time, when we arrive at Vault 81, it seems we've found the exception. A vault whose dwellers are not dead. Who have somewhat opened up the vault to the outside. But this idyllic picture doesn't last. As we explore and learn more about the history of the vault, it becomes clear that there is still darkness here, and only for the acts of one person, was this vault spared a much darker, but more familiar, fate.
