Upon the sudden death of Irving Berlin's first wife, Dorothy Goetz, he felt compelled to write two beautiful songs in her memory (she contracted typhoid fever on their honeymoon in Cuba).
The main song heard here is 'When I Lost You,' but the secondary tune is another Berlin piece called 'When I'm Thinking Of You.'
The New Liberty Dance Orchestra is under the direction of Matt Tolentino and is based in Cincinnati, Ohio. This video comes to you from the 40th anniversary vintage dance week of Flying Cloud Academy of Vintage Dance, and this was their ragtime night. Great fun, and just look at those dancers!
