It's true that your emotions are important, but if you grew up with abuse and neglect, this cookie-cutter advice to FEEL more may be terrible advice.

Early trauma can injure your nervous system's ability process negative emotions. That's why, for people with CPTSD, strong emotions can tend to dominate your relationships and your life.

You may lash out too hard, freak out too frequently, and suffer life's disappointments to the point you can barely function. More emotions aren't the answer.
