THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED…. in modern discipleship.
The young John Wimber once sat in a Bible study where the teacher was explaining the miracles of Jesus—healing the sick, casting out demons, and preaching the Kingdom of God.
After several weeks, Wimber finally raised his hand.
Wimber: “Excuse me… when do we get to do the stuff?”
Teacher: “What do you mean?”
Wimber: “You know… the stuff Jesus did. Healing people, helping the hurting, praying for miracles.”
Teacher: “Oh… we don’t do that anymore. We just believe it.”
Wimber reportedly walked away thinking:
If Jesus did it, shouldn’t His followers be doing it too?
That simple question later helped inspire what became the early Vineyard Movement.
There is a road less traveled in modern discipleship.
One whose finish line isn’t the Bible Study, but where disciples learn to become the Word in power and character.
