Last week, there was a devastating fire at my daughter Maya’s apartment complex in Massachusetts. She — along with more than 230 students — lost everything and are now displaced. She’s safe, and for that, I’m endlessly grateful. But as a mother living abroad, receiving that news shook me to my core.

This experience reminded me how fragile life can be, how grounding tools help us move through fear, and how community holds us up when everything else feels uncertain.
