When Christ was born of Mary,
in Bethlehem that night,
the star that shone made stable
dark, appear as noontime bright.
Brightly it shone above the manger,
guiding the wisemen with its light,
to greet the holy birth upon that night,
the worlds True Light
had come from Heaven to Earth.

When Christ was born of Mary,
and in a manger laid, the gentle beasts
around Him stood and humble homage paid.
Soft was the song the doves were singing,
still were the beasts and unafraid,
and all who witnessed the sight,
were filled with awe and wonder and joy
that radiant holy night.

When Christ the Son of Mary,
was born in cattle stall,
the peace proclaimed by angel choirs
upon the Earth did fall.
Glory to God, in highest glory!
Glory to God, good will to all!
And peace on earth they sing,
still round the Earth this Christmas tide
the song is echoing!
