We know for a fact what life on Earth is!
Either the Lion hunts the zebra or the zebra escapes and the lion starves and dies.
So what are these lions and zebras accomplishing anything for the life to have a meaning. It is nothing but suffering and death.
Whatever meaning you assign to life, can it justify predation, starvation, child abuse, diseases and death?
Life is meaningless but it is a fact that Life exists and sentient beings are suffering pointlessly.
So, the only meaning can be end the never ending cycle of suffering and death that is cause Extinction.
