There can be many different reasons for a pink eye or red eye. How do you know which one you have?

A lot of times when people say they have a "pink eye", they are refering to a contagious type of pink eye, like a viral conjunctivitis, or a bacterial conjunctivitis. Another common type of conjunctivitis is an allergic conjunctivitis, which is not contagious, but can mimic the symptoms of the other types of pink eye. It's usually always best to go in and get your eyes checked by your eye doctor to know the best way to treat it, and to know if it may be very contagious or not.
