Whatever that Is
I was working on a demo track in 2020 and wasn't quite sure what to do with it. I saved it as "Whatever That Is" and forgot about it.
Earlier this year, I had to renew my computer set up (after 12 years, ouch) and came across the demo track again while I was cleaning up my backups.
It occurred to me that it sounded like what I imagined Uniform Motion might have sounded like if we had continued the band.
I sent the demo to Olivier, our drummer, who agreed and promptly added an awesome drum track to it.
Renaud join in on the fun by designing the artwork and here we are, a one-off track 6 years after Uniform Motion disbanded, just for fun.
This video is meant to be a celebration. We had fun during our 10 years existence!
The video (edited by Lucille Richards) was made using footage from various different sources including videos which were made for us by Renaud Forestié, Lucille Richards, Soline Rampillon, Patrick Piotte, Alix Roques-Genez, Vincent Baudry and Patrice Lange.
The footage includes all the different lineups, with appearances from Renaud Forestié, Olivier Piotte, Trevor Walsh, Patrice Thomas, Fred Pesce, Léa Costantino and Andrew Richards.
And some friends who helped in various different ways like Marc Dubézy who supported the band with his studio and sound engineering skills, Sébastien Pommier who played some percussion, Didier Haberli on bass and Myriam Van Leeuwen on the flute.
There are so many memories packed into this video with footage from venues like Apple Expo, la Maroquinerie, le Trianon, and la Fléche d'Or in Paris; Le Bikini, CDM Studio, ADHF, Utopia Cinema, Théâtre de Roquelaine and Victor and Emmanuelle's place in Toulouse; Le Remue-Méninges (St-Etienne) and Le Canoë Renversant (Bourg le Comte) in France; Ä (Berlin), Aaltra (Chemnitz), Die Kassette (Düsseldorf), Swamp Club (Freiburg) in Germany; and Teatro de las Armas (Zaragoza) and Paperezko Kontzertuak, (Donostia) in Spain. I hope I got the venues right!
