So, yeah. We know why we're here.
As someone who liked Ready Player One but doesn't consider herself a mega fan, I came into Ready Player Two (the unwanted sequel for many) with perhaps the most unbiased eyes ever. I don't care about the 80s, I barely remember the characters, but I certainly remember the fun I had with the first book.
So with my thinking ONI cap on, I read through the book and deduced one thing.
It's a cash grab. Nostalgia baiting again.
Why do franchises have to continuously make sequels?? (rhetorical because the obvious answer is money but whhhhy)
Anyways, watch the video, but here's a short summary of my thoughts:
Rushed.
Character development and personality didn't transfer over from the first book.
Half-baked.
Missed opportunities.
If you're not Wade, you're not important.
MacGuffin quest we weren't even a part of.
And boring riddles and quests.
The only good parts were the villains, but we barely saw them! Shoutout to Anorak and his boombox.
