This video picks up from our last one, which talked about the basic tools you'll need for making a Skill Level 3 rocket (youtu.be/PiF52gfQb-s). When talking about tools for Skill Level 4, we're going to need the ones from the previous videos, plus some new ones we will add to our tool chest:
Many of these tools can be found on the Apogee Components web site at: ApogeeRockets.com
- Spray Adhesive (any brand): Allows you to loosely attach things together to test fits, without permanently glueing them in
- Alligator Forceps (small and large ones): Reach into long areas that are too small to normally reach into, like rocket tubes
- Acetone: Great for dissolving super glue, which helps for cleaning thin CyA glue tips
- Regular Forceps (large): great for pulling things out of rockets that are really stuck (like centering rings)
- Apogee Dental Tools: great for scraping small details, or removing glue from small areas on rockets.
- Wood Plane: Great quickly for shaping wood accurately (such as wing airfoils on rockets)
- Custom Sanding Wedges: great for sanding dihedral angles onto rocket fins
- Micro Drill Bits: Super small drill bits for making tiny holes
- Apogee Sanding Burrs (Tip Sanders): great for sanding tiny details or within small tubes
- Pin Vice: Allows you to hold the micro drill bits mentioned above, and also for holding the custom Apogee Sanding burrs (tip sanders)
- Caliper: Great for getting super precise measurements on your model rockets
- Tamiya Putty/Glazing (spot) putty: Great glues/fillers for advanced rockets
- Happy Hands: Wax based solution to rub on hands/fingers. Creates a barrier between your skin and super glue!
- Fiberglass cloth: Gives your advanced rocket builds a lot more strength
- Airbrush: gives you more precision over your rocket paint jobs, and allows you to mix your own custom colors
- RockSim: Allows you to build out your own custom rockets, and print out templates for fins and custom features.
