Today I’m finally showing my dad’s childhood comic book collection in its entirety — a collection I’ve talked about for years but never fully shared on the channel.
This collection is what originally got me into collecting single-issue comics. We found it years ago locked away in a storage building, cut the lock, and spent an unforgettable day going through everything together — bagging, boarding, and bonding over these books. It’s incredibly special to me, even if I wouldn’t personally keep every issue.
The collection is mostly Silver Age DC, with a heavy focus on war comics like GI Combat, Our Fighting Forces, Star Spangled War Stories, and Sergeant Fury & the Howling Commandos. There’s also a strong Superman presence (Superman, Action Comics, Superboy, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen), some Batman and Detective Comics, Flash, Wonder Woman, Justice League, and a very small amount of Marvel.

Batman #181 (First Poison Ivy)
Tech Comics #359 (First Batgirl)
Flash & Superman race issues
Sergeant Fury #3
Animal Man appearances
Oversized books, Mad Magazine, and Classics Illustrated
Most of these comics were bought off newsstands back in the day — sometimes with money that probably should’ve gone to church 😅 — and you can really see my dad’s reading habits and experimentation across different titles.
Now the big question is… what should we do with them?
Hold onto them? Sell them? Keep a select few?
