What the Media Won’t Show You About Singapore 🇸🇬
Singapore is so much more than what you see on postcards and tourism commercials! In this video, we took a deep dive into the real, authentic side of the city—experiencing its rich cultural melting pot firsthand.
After grabbing some incredible crispy Roti Prata and curry at a local Indian restaurant, my friend and I took a walk through the colorful streets of Arab Street (Kampong Glam). He walked me inside the breathtaking Sultan Mosque (Masjid Sultan)—a historic landmark that has stood in the heart of Singapore for nearly 200 years! Inside, he shared incredible insights into Muslim culture, faith, lifestyle, and community. As a Christian with so Muslim family members, it was an amazing, eye-opening conversation about how different religions and cultures peacefully coexist on this small island.
While exploring, we also noticed tourists from all over the world—including huge crowds visiting from China! It brought up a massive misconception a lot of people have: Singapore is NOT part of China. It is a proud, fully independent nation made up of Chinese, Malay, Indian, and Eurasian communities thriving side-by-side. To wrap up the walk, we checked out a legendary local Malay restaurant right across the street that’s been serving authentic food since 1954!
Singapore is a true global crossroad where travelers from Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and beyond come together. Good food, amazing conversations, and pure local vibes!
