This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new 2027 Kia EV5 compact electric SUV.
The 2027 Kia EV5 is available in FWD and AWD with two battery options, a 60.3 kWh battery with 335 km/208 miles of range and an 81.4 kWh battery with up to 457 km/284 miles. 2027 Kia EV5 FWD, Long-range models are available to purchase now and AWD models are available to order, they will arrive at the end of summer. FWD short range will hit dealerships at the end of the year.
2027 Kia EV5 FWD, long-range models have 214 horsepower and 218 lb-ft of torque. FWD short range and AWD performance numbers have not been announced yet. The EV5 is made in South Korea. Unfortunately, this model is not available in the US.
The 2027 Kia EV5 offers families the versatility and practicality in a 5-passenger SUV that’s smooth, quiet and refined. It’s such an easy driving SUV offering some nice comfort for longer road trips. You can adjust the level of regen braking using the paddle shifters on the steering wheel and there is an available heat pump one up from the base model.
The base 2027 Kia EV5 trim comes with some nice features, a 12.3” digital driver display, 12.3” touchscreen, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, 6-speaker audio system, cloth upholstery, heated front seats, power driver’s seat, manual passenger seat with height adjustment, smart key with push button start, a battery heating system and tire pressure monitoring system.
Pricing for Canada includes, freight, PDI and fees. Light FWD $45,771, Wind FWD/AWD $49,771/$52,271, Land FWD/AWD $52,271/$54,771, GT-Line FWD/AWD $57,771/$60,271, GT-Line Limited FWD/AWD $61,271/$63,771.
The 2027 Kia EV5 has an 11-kW onboard charger. With a DC fast charger and speeds up to 150 kW, it will charge from 10-80% in 30 minutes. It is equipped with the North American charging standard port and has the available V2L feature which can supply up to 1900 watts of power.
The 2027 Kia EV5 Light FWD, Wind FWD/AWD and Land FWD models all qualify for the Federal EV rebate of $5,000.
