The speakers came from Farmville Virginia and lived through segregation and segregated schools. I interviewed them back in 1990 for my television series on the 1960s, the first episode of which was on the 1950s. They witnessed Brown vs. Board of Education which was supposed to integrate the schools but in Virginia caused the local government to close the schools making white private schools canceling their public education system.
