The purpose is to poke fun and raise awareness of Disney's "inclusivity first" policies which seems to take precedence over good story telling and world building. It feels as though many of our favorite aspects of star wars have been altered without a second thought and often feels like watching political propaganda every time we turn on a new star wars film.
