Public transit in the Chicago area is now under the control of the Northern Illinois Transit Authority.

NITA was created after Springfield stepped in to prevent a financial crisis in public transit. It will oversee the CTA, Metra, and Pace.

NITA's Chief Transition Officer Maulik Vaishnav joined The Point to discuss the changes.
