Deep Talks | What Makes Luke Skywalker a Mythological Hero? Why Does The Mandalorian Get Him Right? @DeepTalksTheology | Uploaded February 2021 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
What makes Luke Skywalker such a compelling character in our cultural mythos? Why did #TheMandalorian get him right, but The Last Jedi's version seems so out of character?

In this video, we'll explore how the original Star Wars trilogy presented Luke Skywalker as an ideal mythological via the lens of Joseph Campbell's "hero journey" thesis.

We'll also compare the different ethical frameworks found in the Jedi and Sith and see why Luke Skywalker embodied an entirely different approach- an ancient ethical approach that our culture desperately longs to recover.
