Ken Axelson saw terrifying action in World War 2, facing down German tanks as he took part in the Battle of the Bulge. Mr Axelson was taken prisoner by the Nazis, ending up crossing the Rhine under armed German guard. He then spent the rest of the war being transported and marched between infamous prison camps in the failing, crumbling Nazi system, a prison camp network on its knees as the Allies made huge gains on both eastern and western fronts. Mr Axelson survived his time in captivity as a POW, and was gracious enough to share his wartime experiences with us, so that we might learn what the realities were for those living in the Nazi prison camps in the latter days of WWII.
