Lance Carr current reads for an undergraduate master’s degree in mathematics at Nottingham Trent University. He has worked extensively in retail and corporate customer service and has a passion for people. Both a paid and volunteer mentor in several roles to fellow students, how mathematics is taught and represented in schools and what effect this has on the image of mathematics is of particular interest. An ambassador for the School of Science and Technology as well as running the mathematics society; Lance has represented his peers on several levels including the electoral commission of the students’ union and the information systems students’ committee. Passionate about all areas of problem solving, he is also heavily involved in music having earned a scholarship to study this further. Languages, karate and computing are amongst his other key interests underpinning a thirst for knowledge and a love of diversity.
