SBS The Feed | What it’s like being held in isolation | Short doc @SBSTheFeed | Uploaded July 2024 | Updated October 2024, 1 week ago.
Indigenous teen Jayden has been locked up in a police watch house around 25 times and was also held in isolation – he says he’s still impacted by the experience.
In Queensland, youth detention centres are overflowing, and some children are being held in police watch houses indefinitely. As the Queensland Government tries to crack down on youth crime, kids who repeatedly offend find themselves in these watch houses, often not knowing when they might be released. At one point, Jayden was locked up for two weeks not knowing his end date.
