What does it actually take to host a beach day on a 1-acre pond?
In this video, I’m bringing you along for the entire process of getting our private pond beach ready for a full day with family and friends — from raking the sand and cleaning up the pond to setting up shade sails, canopies, chairs, misters, outdoor showers, music, and enough beach gear to outfit a small resort.
Over the years, I’ve added a lot of things around this pond to make days like this easier. Our pond wagon has become mobile “pond central,” quick-connect hoses make setup faster, the dock has misters and rinse stations, and our solar well pump and jet pump setup even gives us a fire hose to help clean the beach, dock, and swimming area.
I also added a Wi-Fi smart plug to the fire hose pump setup after a viewer suggested it, which lets me shut the pump down remotely right from the beach.
Of course, setting everything up is only half the battle. After a long day of swimming, eating, and hanging out, everything has to come back down and get packed away for the next one.
These days are a ton of work — but this is exactly why we built the pond in the first place.
