Technovation Challenge (technovationchallenge.org) encourages skills in girls that reach beyond traditional, classroom-based computer science (CS) curricula. An interdisciplinary, hands-on focus on applied CS and business encourages students to work as part of a team guided by a professional female mentor to create an original and relevant mobile app. Pitch events challenge the girls further by asking them to communicate their ideas, process, and final product to an audience and panel of experts.
