What is your most accurate rifle? First we need to define our terms.
Accuracy: How close your shots are to the intended target or point of aim.
Example: If you fire five rounds and they all land scattered across the bullseye area, you are accurate (on average you’re hitting the right place), but not necessarily precise.
Key point: Accuracy is about truth to the target.
Precision: How close your shots are to each other, regardless of whether they hit the bullseye.
Example: If your five rounds all form a tight group a few inches to the left of the bullseye, you are precise but not accurate.
Key point: Precision is about repeatability and consistency.
How they relate:
Consistent accuracy requires precision. If your shots are truly accurate (repeatedly striking the bullseye), then by definition they must also be grouped together (precise). Without precision, accuracy can only happen by chance.
My MOST 'consistently accurate' rifle system has been my American precision Arms (APA) Genesis series custom rifle in .260 Rem with its Schmidt & Bender PMII 5-25x56 scope. Contact APA for details on Rex's exact setup.
