I’m an optometrist with an emphasis in pediatrics and vision development, and I work in a vision therapy office that functions much like physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT), and speech therapy.
We see many children who have previously participated in OT and later discover they also have accompanying vision issues. We also work with patients who have binocular vision challenges following stroke or concussion. In many of these cases, vision therapy plays a critical role in helping the visual system recover and function more efficiently.
Vision therapy is designed to improve how the eyes and brain work together, and it can be done in conjunction with other therapies. When vision therapy, OT, PT, and speech therapy are integrated, patients often experience more meaningful and well-rounded progress.
