I realized how much you content creators and the community means to me in the bear market, and it got me reflecting on what ‘value’ really is to me.
In marketing, we talking about ‘selling the sizzle, not the steak’, which is another way of pointing to that people don’t buy things for the features, but for the benefit. And the real advanced marketers, they understand what ‘the benefit of the benefit’ is as well - aka ‘deep benefits’.
An example: you’re gonna sell a toothbrush. The feature could be “angled bristles”. The benefit could be “angled bristles reach the trouble spots between your teeth and gum line …and remove the harmful bacteria etc” -but the deeper benefit would be something like “You’ll feel confident knowing you have a fresh breath and a great smile - especially in intimate situations”
We end up buying the toothbrush essentially because we subconsciously think it will give us confidence and pussy.
The same goes with money. The money in itself it not where the value lies for us. We’re looking for something we think money can give us. Seeing through this illusory quality of money will help us remember that most of what is really valuable to us ia already here - for example a like-minded community delaying gratification and sharing valuable insight and helping each other.
That’s the real value to me.
