What is the truth about salvation? The Bible is clear that salvation comes through Jesus Christ. A person receives eternal life by placing their faith and trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ. Anybody who believes on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation is saved.
Although we are spiritually saved at the moment of salvation, our bodies have not yet been changed. The aspect of salvation that is present is spiritual (a believers' spirit has been quickened). Everlasting life is the present possession of the believer. A believer is justified (a legal declaration that one is righteous), regenerated, being sanctified (being set apart or made holy), and will one day be glorified. Glorification is when believers receive their new bodies. This means that Christians are presently saved and will also be saved (physically) in the future at the Resurrection (the time of final sanctification. It is very important that we understand these important aspects of salvation (justification, regeneration, sanctification and glorification). Understanding these important distinctions will help a person greatly in their study of soteriology (the study of the doctrine of salvation).
