In this video I will explain the differences between a US model Playstation Vita and a Japanese model. I hope to make this as clear as possible, so if you still have any questions please ask in the comments and I will respond.
The only thing I did not mention in the video is that you may want to be careful using a battery pack to charge your Vita as the stock charger outputs 5V at 1500ma and most battery chargers output 2500ma.
