TCS stands for Tubeless Compatible System. In short, itβs our standardised tubeless rim & tyre system designed to meet ETRTO standards and provide ultimate reliability. Here at WTB, we offer everything you need for your complete tubeless setup. The TCS system is made up of 5 components which include the rim, the tape, the valves, the tires, and finally the sealant that goes inside. All TCS compatible components will display the TCS logo on the packaging, and most of the time, on the product itself too. Hereβs a quick look through all of these components, and the technology that goes into them too. Firstly we have the starting point of the TCS setup, the rim. WTB TCS rims utilise the beadlock system to ensure a tight fit and optimal bead retention.
Coming down from the bead shelves and you have the on-ramp. The on ramp provides a consistent fit between rim and tire for easy inflation, and also makes it easier to pop the tyre bead into the channel for fitting or removal. The last part of the rim to look at is the rim valley or spoke channel. During use, this channel should always be covered by a solid strip. The Solid Strip is a durable rim strip that goes under the TCS tubeless tape and protects it from broken spokes piercing from the inside, & also stops the tape sagging into the spoke holes and weakening over time. All WTB TCS rims are supplied with the Solid Strip included.
Now weβre onto the TCS Tubeless Tape. This self-adhesive tape provides an airtight seal and removes the need for an innertube to hold the air within the tire. Itβs also worth mentioning that we recommend tape that is 5mm wider than the inner rim width you are working with. Once the rim is taped, youβll want a TCS tubeless valve. The rubber wedge ensures an airtight seal at the rim, and a removable valve core makes it easier to remove air and keep the valve clean. Next we have the TCS tubeless tire. If you see the TCS logo stamped on a WTB tyre, it means itβs tubeless ready and can be used as part of the complete tubeless system.
Finally we have the Sealant. TCS Tubeless Tire Sealant is an ammonia & latex-free formula packed with mica particles that rapidly seals punctures up to 6mm in size to create a flexible and long-lasting repair.
