The purpose of the trend is to film a video in which the participants participate in a typical everyday scenario, although sometimes exaggerated, but appear to be frozen and not move, similar to mannequins. Typically the video is accompanied with the song "Black Beatles" by rap duo Rae Shremmurd. The trend started off being popular amongst younger people but has since spread to the main stream being adopted by sports teams and notable people.
