What is gel printing? In this video, I explain the basics of gel printing for beginners. This is a gel printing tutorial, an introduction to gelli plate printing for those who are absolute newbies or unfamiliar with gelli printing. I explain how to use a gelli printing plate. I use tools, acrylic paint, found objects, textures and stencils to make images and patterns. It's printmaking without a press!
Although gel printing uses acrylic paint, it is not painting. I use textures and stencils to build up an image, often responding to what is on the plate and paper from the last print. I use these gel prints as finished artworks, collage material and other things!
