Narcissistic people are notorious for starting a relationship: love bombing you flooding you with love and then emotionally starving you and then tossing you some breadcrumbs we know that right the sad part is- and I say this from experience- is how we wind up getting hooked by those breadcrumbs and it winds up leading to a long-term toxic unhealthy relationship that often is destroying you from the inside out before you even realize it and unfortunately i think i'm gonna have to put shadow away but wanted you guys to see her so this video is for you if you have ever been or currently are in a relationship with somebody that gives you just enough attention or connection to keep you hoping- hoping that things will get better or hoping for something deeper but never enough to actually feel fully secure loved and grounded in the relationship we're going to talk about the science behind why this behavior this breadcrumbing is so addictive why it hijacks your brain and how you can stop finally falling for crumbs of love so that you can build a life with connections where you feel fully emotionally That being said let's dive in For those of you that don't know me my name is Michelle I'm a somatic experiencing practitioner and the founder of the School of Transformation which is where I meet live on Zoom every week And I do the inner work with survivors from all over the world of childhood trauma together Here on my YouTube channel we talk about what healing is about what it looks like the symptoms of unhealed trauma But in the School of Transformation we do the inner healing together So if you're ready to take the next step make sure you join me weekly on Zoom so i want to give you 2 scenarios that kind of helps you to picture what breadcrumbing might look like so in scenario number one let's say somebody got into a long-term relationship with somebody after being love bombed this person was pouring out attention 24 7 they were there all the time right giving you words of affirmation acts of service really making you feel seen heard loved and cared about and then suddenly everything they were doing is just like poof it's gone and you're in the relationship now so you're very invested because you have been giving consistently and so when this first starts you're not quick to just end the relationship because it's confusing right it's like okay what happened And so you might be looking for signs of what that person used to do Time is going by You're getting very little attention connection And then suddenly you start to contemplate like I think I might have one foot out the door This is not healthy This doesn't feel good And it's almost like at that moment when you have that one foot out the door the narcissist will throw something your way They might say something nice They might do something small And in the whole full spectrum of things it's this tidy little thing they did But you have been starved for so long it feels amazing That's one way of breadcrumbing Here's another scenario Maybe this is before a relationship or this is a friendship where let's say this friend has been consistent with you all the time They text every morning Good morning They text at night They check in with you throughout the day There's such consistency as far as the connection that they're giving with you ......... And then suddenly nothing for days and you start wondering like what happened and then out of nowhere you get this text like: hey stranger maybe they throw you a compliment i've been thinking about you i miss you and suddenly you get excited that hope button inside of you gets touched on and you're like: oh maybe they do care Maybe they do want connection with me Maybe things are starting to turn around And so that's breadcrumbing It's when someone gives you just enough to keep you hanging on just enough to get you to bring back that one foot out the door But it's never enough to really feel emotionally connected with the person And if you're falling for it please know that it has nothing to do with you being crazy weak or even needy
