Think of the real world as analog—smooth, continuous, and full of shades. Sounds, light, temperature, and pressure all change smoothly.

Think of computers and microcontrollers (like in your phone or laptop) as digital—they only understand a language of 1s and 0s, which are discrete steps.
An ADC (Analog-to-Digital Converter) is like a translator that takes the smooth, continuous language of the analog world and converts it into the discrete, stepped language that digital systems can understand and process.

A perfect example is your microphone:
Your voice creates analog sound waves (continuous changes in air pressure).
The microphone turns this into an analog electrical signal into Digital ones.
An ADC converts this smooth analog signal into a stream of digital numbers (1s and 0s).
