This is pretty much how Titanic did not make it to New York in 1912 as told by a discord chat meme.

The Titanic was commissioned in 1908 by J. Bruce Ismay, director of the famous White Star Line shipping company. Thomas Andrews, head ship builder at Harland and Wolff, was all "yeah sure I'll design that." And design it he did. not by himself of course, that would be ridiculous. In all, three ships were commissioned at the same time. The Olympic, the Britannic, and, of course, the Titanic. The ships were constructed in Belfast, Ireland.
On her maiden voyage out of Southampton in the UK, Titanic stopped at Cherbourg, France and then Queenstown, Ireland to pick up remaining passengers. She then set sail for New York City on April 10th, 1912.
After four days at sea, Titanic telegraph operator Jack Phillips received numerous warnings of ice, but ignored them as mindless radio chatter and turned off his comms like a moron.
Lo and behold, the warnings were correct as crew in Titanic's crows nest spotted an iceberg in the middle of the night. Because of calm waters and the dark shroud of nightfall, the icebergs was virtually undetectable until they were like RIGHT on it. With barely any time, the crew scrambled to stop the ship and engage the reversing engine while turning the ship hard-over to starboard (right for you landlubbers).
The effort did prevent a head-on collision, but the iceberg pierced and penetrated Titanic's hull, instantly flooding the inside at a rate of about 7 tons of water per SECOND. That's a thirsty ship right there. Taking on that much water flooded the majority of the bulkheads that gave the ship her nearly unsinkable qualities. Nearly.
To make matters worse, there was not anywhere near enough lifeboats for every passenger aboard. Originally, Titanic was fitted for 64 lifeboats which could have potentially carried over 4,000 at full capacity. Due to greedy corporate overlords who preferred more open deck space in lieu of passenger safety, the Titanic was instead equipped with just 20. Enough for about 1,200 at full capacity.
Titanic had 2,240 passengers and crew aboard. You do the math.
More than 1,500 people died in the sinking. Bummer.
