In the 1970s, as the Washington Metro was being built, designer Lance Wyman was as planning to give each station a pictogram. Based on his success with pictograms in Mexico City, it would help to navigate the system.

However, the pictograms were scrapped at the last moment. So I decided to make them again.

This video tells the story of how I designed 98 new station pictograms for the Washington Metro.
