1986 was both a triumphal and tragic year for Metallica: Master of Puppets and Cliff Burton's death. And so happened first (out of two ever) Metallica bass auditions, when Jason Newsted joined the band, being the only bassist who matched all criteria. But what if he didn't show up or failed the audition? Who'd replace Cliff Burton? There was one really special guy, and James Hetfiled said he was "too good" for them. Of course, it's Les Claypool, who later got famous with Primus. So let's imagine what if Les Claypool became Metallica new bassist after Cliff?
