Remove Demos Petition: bit.ly/37FGp0F
This week Psyonix released an update to improve bumps & demolitions. In this video I will give a basic explanation of what these changes mean for you, the average player. My "are demo's broken?" video was part of the reason they are being reworked and I was also involved in the testing of this patch. In the second part of this video I take an in depth look into the question: should demos be removed from Rocket League? Are they skilled or a crutch? What could make them better or more balanced?
As someone who has 38 thousand demolitions I have always thought they are a well-balanced, high risk/high reward mechanic. While issues with client/server interactions and a misunderstanding of demo rules can often cause people to complain that they are "broken", for most of the life of Rocket League the mechanic has performed as intended. Strategic bump and demo plays are an important part of the game, but players in Rocket League actually only average about 0.56 demos/game. It is not as big an issue as it is often made out to be and I would hesitate to even call it a "meta". That being said there is a few ideas out there that could improve the mechanic. Eliminating the RNG element and letting you pick your respawn is one suggestion. Shortening the respawn timer is another. What do you think? Are demos good where they are at or do they need to be changed/removed?
