I Cracked My CGC Comics – 3 Months Later (Reflection + Unboxing)
Three months ago, I did something that raised a lot of eyebrows—I cracked out 90% of my CGC-graded comic books from their slabs. Today, I’m reflecting on that decision, answering some of your most-asked questions, and sharing how I feel about it now… plus, a little CGC unboxing for good measure.
This wasn’t about rage or rebellion. It was about reclaiming my collection. For me, grading felt like it turned treasured comics into sterile investments—books I couldn’t touch, read, or truly enjoy. From Silver Age classics like Aquaman #29 and Hulk #141, to Bronze Age keys like Werewolf by Night #32, I realized I valued the experience of the comic far more than the grade on the label.
