Have you ever wondered what happens inside one of those large airport hangers? I did. So when the opportunity arose to see for myself I jumped at the chance!
I'm a travel geek with a passion for aviation. So when FEAM Aerospace asked if I wanted to check out their new aircraft maintenance hanger at Cincinnati North Kentucky Airport, or CVG, there was no way I was turning that down.
Welcome to my series Airports Uncovered. In Part 1 of Airports Uncovered we find out What Happens in the Hanger.
I love seeing how things work and sharing that with you. What Happens in the Hanger is Part 1 of a three part video series that lifts the veil on what happens behind the scenes in the world of aviation and aircraft engineering.
In this first video I cover the hanger operations at FEAM's facility at CVG. We follow the crew as they replace the landing gear on a 767 freighter. We also get to see two other wide-body jets undergoing A and C checks. This is one very cool operation.
Part 2 will see me head out to the ramp as the team repair an A330 with steering issues and we get some passenger aircraft ready for departure.
Part 3 will cover the unique training joint venture that FEAM has with the Epic Aircraft Mechanic school at CVG where they train the next generation of Aircraft Mechanics.
Through this series I want to highlight the incredible people working behind the scenes who make the magic of aviation possible.
