My last year in Seaside operating Lucky's Fascination was 1995...
After losing my lease in Seaside, and looking for a new location there, I ended up coming to Wildwood because there were no suitable places for me in Seaside...
At first it seemed like a blessing in disguise, as I ended up leasing a huge area, where not only Lucky's Fascination would be set up again, but I also had a large area for my Arcade Museum, which I had always dreamed of creating!
Things quickly became trouble, as the Landlord had not repaired his buildings for a long time, and there were extremely bad roof leaks, (but only whenever it rained 😂)!
The complex was delayed in opening due to these issues, and once the season was over, events worsened, and the build became condemned, and everything had to move out again.
It was several years in Court as I was Suing the Landlord...
Eventually I won, only receiving a judgement for only part of my losses...
But a Judgement is not Payday, and after you have a judgement, then you must try to collect on that Judgement, and the Sheriff was given the the information to attach a lien against the Landlord's property.
The first thing the Sheriff did was impound the Landlord's car, which was the bsold at Sheriff's Sale.
As the lien holder, I had to bid on the auction I. effort to get the price higher, and to recover more money towards my judgement.
The Landlord was a wise guy, and had some of his friends go to the auction to bid the price up also, making what he owed me less.
After the first few really nothing bids, there were only 2 bidders left, (me and the other guy who I didn't know was the Landlord's friend).
We bid each other up, until I bid $3,000.00, and he bid more then me...
I stopped bidding so the other guy had the winning bid, and I would receive the money, rather then me winning the car...
After the Auction was declared the other guy as winner, turns out HE HAD NO MONEY, and was fraudulently bidding just to drive the price up!
The auction then reverted to the last high bidder, which was me, and I got the car...
I said to the Sheriff, "that is not a fair way to do this, because he was a liar, making bids WITH NO MONEY just to push my price up!
The Sheriff agreed it was unfair, and a scumbag thing to do, but the way the auction laws worked, I goes back only 1 step to the previous bid; if I had stopped bidding sooner, he would have been caught in his fraud sooner, but as it was, the '91 Mazda Miata was now mine for $3,000.00.
I had some fun driving the Miata around, but it really is too small for me being a big guy...
It is a Fast Little Racing Car, and it rides almost on the floor it's so low...
My head barely fit under the Convertible top, so it was best to drive it on hot days where the top was down.
It really had no protection if you turned over, as there is no roll bar, and when other cars or trucks are next to you, it's like you are a tiny p-nut that would be driven. right over!
I remember you g through McDonald's Drive through, and the girl at the window looked down and laughed at me saying, "what are you doing in that Toy Car!
I am used to driving in a mini van, so it was really something I didn't drive much...
But it was a Trophy, as it was a victory symbol over the long struggles against my Landlord!
I parked my little Miata behind my Woolworth's Building in Wildwood, until one day I went out in my other vehicle, and saw my little Miata laying UPSIDE DOWN behind my building!
There was NO Accident...
NO car crash...
This was a deliberate act to destroy the Little Miata.
