Russia’s war against Ukraine will come to an end sooner or later. Thanks to the bravery of Ukraine’s defenders, the prospect of the nation’s outright defeat remains remote. Yet because of Russian aggression, considerable uncertainty surrounds Ukraine’s future—its place in Western alliances and the European Union and its potential to strengthen its democracy and build a prosperous future.
