As I prepare my NSF CAREER proposal, I take a look back at some of my failures and successes with NSF awards. I am doing my best to learn from the critical responses that I have received from previous reviews to help improve what I am doing now.
The CAREER award is a bit more higher profile of an award than what I have previously achieved at the NSF, so I want to put my best foot forward.
I have an award at the program I am submitting to, and so that gives me a good idea of how it will be received (provided I can sufficiently demonstrate that this is different than what is currently funded). But man... some reviewers are brutal in their reviews, which I cover in the video.

![Getting caught with facial recognition - How SVDs are used in Facial Recognition Software
This video builds on the SVD concepts of the previous videos, where I talk about the algorithm from the paper Eigenfaces for Recognition. These tools are used everywhere from law enforcement (such as tracking down the rioters at the Capitol) to unlocking your cell phone.
