LONDON streets near Regent Street and the BBC headquarters were closed off from the public as the police bomb squad investigates a suspicious vehicle – but reports suggest it actually belonged to a member of staff.
A bomb disposal robot has been sent in to Langham Place and Portland Place, by BBC Broadcasting House.
Chris Hemmings, who works for the Victoria Derbyshire programme, tweeted: "There's a bomb robot outside the BBC. It's just fired a shot in to a car window and is now inspecting the back seat. Told there may be a controlled explosion carried out."
However, a second post stated: "So, apparently the car belongs to someone who sits on our floor.
"All his windows have been smashed in and a guy is now searching it."
BBC staff were told to move away from the windows before being evaucated from the building.
The area is near the popular shopping areas of Regent Street and Oxford Street.
A BBC spokesman said: "We do not comment on security matters."
I bet they don't. Not when it makes their staff look like a pack of pricks.
