A verifiable credential is a tamper-evident credential that has authorship that can be cryptographically verified. This means they can be stored on digital devices, you can use cryptography to verify their data and authorship and they’re also designed to make it obvious if someone has tampered with them.
Some use cases for VCs are ID cards, university degrees, vaccination proof and employment credentials. Digital credentials can simplify and reduce costs of issuance, will be available wherever people bring their phones (basically everywhere) and cannot be forged!
