The war in Iran is a pivotal moment for world geopolitics, with huge ramifications not just for America, Israel and the Middle East, but also for China, Russia, and Europe, not just militarily but economically.
And it's a make or break moment for Donald Trump, with a high chance of "break". His popularity was already tanking before the war, but Americans didn't want this war, and now that it's going tits up, they like it even less.
While it's going badly now, if Trump decides to send marines in to destroy or exfiltrate nuclear materials, it could turn into a catastrophe for Trump and, by extension, a catastrophe for us. Trump's presidency and the influence he brings on other Western countries do at least stave off censorship of the internet and allow open criticism of our suicidal policies such as mass immigration.
And we could see a Syria-style wave of refugees heading for our shores, and retaliatory terror attacks, either backed by the Iranian state or from the many angry Islamists we've welcomed in.
The decisions Trump makes now will have a long-standing impact on the Republican Party in America and could ensure a Democrat administration for a generation.
