In this video, CBT Nuggets Trainer Bob Salmans will review the basic principles of zero trust security and its importance in developing a well-architected security solution.
While every organization needs to develop its security strategies, those are built on top of fundamental security principles. One of those strategies is the idea of ‘use least privilege’ and role-based access. While both are technically different concepts, they work together to limit access based on requirements.
Limiting system and data access requires authentication and authorization, too. However, the difference between authentication and authorization is subtle. Authentication forces clients to prove who they are (like logging in), while authorization verifies that they are allowed to act.
One of the best strategies any business can implement is to always assume a breach has already happened. If IT administrators always believe nefarious actors have access to their systems and data, that assumption forces other concepts like segmentation of services and encryption at rest.
