Any philosophy of mind that is not taking bodily cognition seriously is missing the main part of mind. We never make decisions that are not entangled with our bodies and those bodies are always encountering worlds. We never do anything ‘mental’ that is not bodily. This does not downgrade the mystical but reminds us of the wonder and awe that is in everything. It also helps us understand how intelligence can be beyond the body, but how consciousness (and thus mind, which is conscious intelligence) cannot.
4E Cognition is more than its name can hold these days because it stands for so many potential Es. Still, 'embodied' is the place to begin. Notice that 'embodied' means not in the head alone, but it does not mean 'trapped in the body' but rather read embodied here more like 'bodily action'.
