I think a lot of the time social media gets a bad rap for being “fake.” While I personally don’t know any creators who are intentionally trying to fool you into thinking their houses are always clean or that they have the perfect life, we do have to acknowledge that the tiny snippet of someone’s life we see on social media is often the smallest fraction of a much larger picture.
I think for a lot of us, especially mothers, curating these little social media squares is a cherished hobby, something we have for just ourselves outside of motherhood… decorating and re-decorating and finally snapping the perfect photo is like a form of artistic self care. Even when I live in chaos and disarray, I love that I have this little space to create beauty.
That being said, I never want anybody to look at my page and think that I have my crap together, because I will be the first person to tell you that I absolutely do not! I’d like to put forth a motion that we all view these posts as someone’s art form rather than a glimpse into their day-to-day. Who’s with me?
