🔎 Our experts are working with the @arboriculturalassociation and @bangoruniversity to find out if the secret to the long lifespan of ancient oaks lies in their genes.

🔬 With support from the European Arboriculture Council we're sampling DNA from 50 ancient oaks, including the 800-year-old Druids Oak.

🌳 Uncovering how these trees have been able to resist threats like droughts and disease for centuries could help us select young trees in the future with the same traits for resilience.

💚 The research is part of our commitment to protect, restore and create healthy woodlands across the UK.
